Microplastic Analysis Services
The Moore Institute for Plastic Pollution Research provides California-certified microplastic analysis services for drinking water utilities, regulatory agencies, researchers, and industry partners. As of September 1, 2024, we are certified by the State of California to analyze microplastics in drinking water under approved SWB-MP1 methods, making us the first non-profit laboratory accredited for regulatory microplastic testing in the state.
California State Certification for Drinking Water Testing
Our laboratory is certified under:
Field of Accreditation 102 – Inorganic Chemistry of Drinking Water
The approved standard test methods are
- 102.290 001 – Microplastics > 500 μm (SWB-MP1-rev1)
- 102.290 002 – Microplastics 500–212 μm (SWB-MP1-rev1)
- 102.290 003 – Microplastics 212–50 μm (SWB-MP1-rev1)
