The Possibility Lab

With the generous support of The Possibility Lab, we have been able to build three amazing tools to help microplastic researchers, drinking water suppliers and more validate and submit their data, visualize their data, and practice learning how to identify different microplastics via visual microscopy.

The State of California will now require that drinking water be tested for microplastics and the data be reported to the State Water Board. We have created an easy tool to help you validate and send your data.
Welcome to the Data Validation Portal!

The Microplastic Image Explorer is a place to improve your plastic taxonomy skills! Browse our catalog for helpful references when training or learning microplastic identification.

Our data analysis tool allows users to explore global microplastic data derived from peer-reviewed studies on bottled and tap water. The platform not only visualizes curated datasets, but also dynamically updates as users upload new data helping build a growing, standardized evidence base.

Together, these tools create a scalable framework for harmonizing, validating, and sharing structured and unstructured data. While rooted in microplastic research, the architecture is flexible and can support diverse scientific data ecosystems.
